From javelin throwing to Finland<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Freddie Curtis moved to Finland from the United Kingdom at 18 years old in pursuit of a professional athletics career. A promising javelin thrower, he won the junior British title and competed at the World Junior Championships in the USA. He relocated to train under legendary Finnish coach Esa Utriainen and later Petteri Piironen at the Olympic Training Centre in Kuortane. But after a major shoulder injury, his focus shifted towards new challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While training, Freddie developed digital marketing skills by creating content for his YouTube channel and social media. This led to an internship at a healthcare and supplement company in Sein\u00e4joki.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI started as a digital marketing intern for three months, then moved into a specialist role for a year and a half. That\u2019s where I really learned digital marketing.\u201d<\/em> he says.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When a colleague left, Freddie took on more administrative tasks, but the rigid structure wasn\u2019t for him.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI prefer creative, more flexible roles over constant emailing and coordination. That\u2019s just not for me. So, I started looking for something new.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Finding the right fit at Simucube<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

A LinkedIn job ad for Social Media Content Creator at Simucube caught Freddie’s eye. He didn\u2019t know much about sim racing, but he had been casually playing some esports titles and saw similarities between them and sim racing. The role felt like a good fit, and looking deeper, Simucube\u2019s values stood out.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI checked their website, and the way they described their culture really resonated with me. I thought, \u2018Yeah, this is a company I could work for.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Visiting the office confirmed it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe atmosphere was friendly, relaxed, and positive. They offered me the job, and I accepted.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Simucube has exceeded his expectations, especially in how they treat employees.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was surprised by how much better things were than what I\u2019d read on the website. A lot of companies promise a lot, but Simucube actually follow through on their values. For example, the whole company tested a four-day workweek for a few months. That was a big surprise. You don\u2019t get that everywhere. It shows they\u2019re open to new ideas.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A creative and supportive culture<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Now, as Simucube\u2019s Visual Brand Manager, Freddie designs and produces materials across Simucube\u2019s channels and activations while shaping the brand\u2019s visual identity. He plays a key role in product launches, collaborating with the team to craft compelling launch concepts. His work spans throughout the company, ensuring consistency across the brand.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cProduct launches are some of the highlights in my work. The moments before we release a new product are very special to me. A lot of hard work goes into them so it\u2019s exciting to see it all come to life.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Freddie values the supportive team culture. \u201cWhen I\u2019m at the office, I make time to catch up with people and have a chat. Our culture is incredibly supportive. In our marketing team, there\u2019s a lot of trust and mutual respect. Everyone\u2019s ideas are heard, and we lift each other up when we need help. No one gets left behind, we really have each other’s back.\u201d<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The buzz of live events<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n

That energy is especially strong during live streams or events.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s incredible to be part of. You can really feel the team spirit. When you know and trust your colleagues, you can achieve amazing things.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

For Freddie, launches are a reminder of what makes Simucube stand out. “I\u2019m part of an awesome team”<\/em>, Freddie concludes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
